Five Game-Changing Tips I Wish I had in My 40's



By 40, I had achieved a lot on paper—career milestones, big goals, even a few extreme endurance events. But underneath all of that, something still didn’t feel quite right. I was going through the motions, but I wasn’t fulfilled.  I was stuck!!

Looking back, there are a few things I wish someone had told me—things that might have saved me years of trying to “figure it out” the hard way.


Here’s what I wish I knew:


  1. Waiting it out isn't a plan.


If you’re feeling stuck, tired, uninspired—it’s not going to magically change with time - for me it actually worsened as I got older. Your discomfort is trying to tell you something. And the longer you ignore it, the more stuck you feel. I waited way too long to do something about it. 


Procrastination isn’t neutral—it’s a choice to remain trapped. Start today, even with one tiny step.


2. Your Mindset Controls Everything 


I used to believe that working harder, gaining material rewards and getting fitter would make everything better. But no external achievement or material gain could solve the feeling of being unfulfilled. Real change started when I understood that my brain was wired with limiting beliefs, beliefs that hindered progress and growth, keeping me stuck.  The only way forward was to remove these limiting beliefs and behaviours.


In a sense, to rewire my brain to unlock its full potential. No sustained change will occur unless you dismantle these subconscious “maps” that are currently holding you back from living the life you want.


3. You don’t have to figure it out alone (and nor should you). 


We weren’t put on this planet to figure everything out alone. I wasted years going it solo, thinking I could DIY my transformation. The big lesson - Knowledge is not enough. Find someone who understands your journey, that “gets you”, has been “there”, and is equipped with tools, empathy and wisdom. 


Connection & guidance is the shortcut.

4. Build YOUR Blueprint For Change 


It’s not just mindset. Or fitness. Or nutrition. Or for that matter, any other wellness component.   It’s how all those elements work together. True transformation began when I stopped treating those things separately and started approaching my growth as a whole—my habits, my health, my thoughts, and my values working in alignment. 


When it came to finding my “how,” I finally found success when I stopped chasing pseudoscience, self-help trends or motivational content off the internet —I followed what made sense to me, I followed the science. I built a holistic plan combining fundamentals which included neurowellness, fitness, nutrition, etc.  I started by leveraging Neuroscience to unlock and empower my brain to achieve and sustain the changes I needed to make. After so many failures, taking this approach gave me a clear, actionable plan that, when executed, created real lasting change.  The journey was long, but I had finally figured it out.


Ask yourself:


  • What do you want to change about your life? 

  • What life do you want to live?

  • What have you tried before and has it worked?


5. Fall in Love with the Journey


Obsession with outcomes is a trap. True growth thrives in curiosity, adaptability, and celebrating micro-wins. The joy is in becoming—not just arriving. When you stop measuring your worth by the finish line and start embracing who you're becoming along the way it’s amazing how quickly everything shifts.
